Child Care Subsidy
Child Care Financial Assistance
The Virginia Department of Education, Division of Early Childhood Care and Education partners with local Departments of Social Services to administer the Child Care Subsidy Program. Family eligibility for child care subsidy is based on the age of the child (e.g., under age 5 or school-age), household income and family size.
- Families can apply online through CommonHelp (a self-service portal available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) or
- In-person at Local Department of Social Services offices. Applications are available in English, Spanish, and other languages upon request.
- Parents can also request that an application be mailed to them.
