Virginia Employer Champions
Bon Secours Hospital System Richmond, VA
For more than 30 years, the Bon Secours Family Centers in Richmond, VA have been providing quality child care for team members. Open to children ages six weeks through school age, the family centers offer a supportive, educational environment, located on the hospital campuses of Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital, Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center and Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center.
Scott Center Child Development Center Norfolk Naval Shipyard, VA
The Norfolk Naval Shipyard Child Development Centers (CDCs) provide child care services for infants through preschool age children from Monday through Friday during standard work hours (e.g., 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.). CDCs are DoD certified and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Fairfax County Employees’ Child Care Center Fairfax, VA
The Fairfax County Employees' Child Care Center provides a nurturing, educational, and healthy child care setting for the children of County employees. The daily program and schedule are designed to meet the individual needs of each child and to help children learn skills, develop interests, and enjoy the companionship of other young children and adults.
Freddie Mac Tyson's Corner, VA
Freddie Mac provides employees subsidized access to center-based back-up child care, as well as in-home back-up care for mildly ill children. In addition, hybrid employees can choose up to four non-consecutive work weeks during the year to work offsite. The benefit is part of a suite of flexible work options employees can use to address business or personal matters.
Capital One
Capitol One partners with Bright Horizons Care Advantage to offer programs and perks that help employees navigate the needs at home over time. Employees are encouraged to find care through Sitter City, and also have access to back-up care if plans fall through. With Back-Up Child and Adult/Elder Care, they can connect to free backup programs for up to 15 days a year if their regular caretaking routine is disrupted.
Booz Allen Hamilton Northern Virginia
Booz Allen Hamilton offers Dependent Care Assistance Plans (DCAPs) so that employees can set aside pre-tax funds annually to reimburse for child care expenses. Backup dependent care services provide alternative center-based and in-home child and adult care when an employee’s primary provider is unavailable. Child care center tuition discounts include a 5- to 10-percent discount off monthly tuition at national and select regional childcare vendors.
Latched Mama Midlothian, VA
Latched Mama, a small Virginia-based, woman-owned business which designs and sells affordable clothing for breastfeeding moms, embodies family-friendly workplace culture. They provide 100 days of paid parental leave, permit staff to bring their babies to work with them up to 18 months old, and they offer a pregnancy and postpartum stipend for families to assist with healthcare or personal needs that are unique to families with infants. They also provide free lactation support to the public and a host of resources to help moms and families thrive.
Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA
VCU offers access to work/life programs to University and Health System staff and students. VCU Health System Child Care Services provides on-site child care to Health System employees, and the VCU School of Education Child Development Center provides on campus child care to School of Education faculty, staff and students. VCU Division of Community Engagement also offers a number of community youth programs at the Mary and Frances Youth Center.
University of Virginia, Charlottesville, vA
The University of Virginia operates two child care centers (one for children age 2-5 and another for infants and toddlers) to address the needs of University Faculty, Staff, and Students, UVA Health System, and University-affiliated foundations and contractors. Both centers are NAEYC accredited. In addition, UVA offers backup care. UVA also offers employees Dependent Care Assistance Plans (DCAPs) to use pre-tax wages to reimburse for child care expenses.
Bank of America
Bank of America offers employees family care services, including support for nursing mothers, back-up child care and programs to offset child care expenses. Their financial counseling program presents guidance on the costs of child care, budgeting expenses, and the benefits of Family Spending Accounts, to name a few options supporting child care needs. These services are confidential and free to Bank of America employees.
